Discussion Meeting on Increasing the Gender Development Index for the City of Surabaya

Located at the Surabaya City Bappedalitbang, BPS attended a meeting regarding increasing the IPG for the City of Surabaya in 2024. This activity was carried out in the context of collaborating together to take a more in-depth look at the achievements of the IPG for the City of Surabaya.

IPG is an intrinsic dimension of human development and has instrumental value in human development. This index measures achievement in the same dimensions and variables as the Human Development Index (HDI), but reveals disparities in achievement between men and women.

Surabaya City IPG 2023 is 95.56. This figure shows that men's achievements are greater than women in the medium to high equality category. Several indicators show that women's life expectancy (UHH) is longer than men. Meanwhile, the Expected Years of Schooling (HLS) indicators, Average Years of Schooling (RLS) and Expenditure per Capita for men in Surabaya City are higher than for women.
