Abstract

Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one of the indicators to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • The East Java Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in December 2021 rose 1.33 percent from 100.88 to 102.22. The increase in NTP was due to the increase in the price index received by farmers (It) by 2.14 percent, higher than the price index paid by farmers (Ib), which only increased by 0.80 percent.
  • In December 2021, four agricultural sub-sectors experienced an increase in FTT while one other sub-sector experienced a decline. The sub-sector that experienced the largest increase in FTT occurred in the Horticulture sub-sector by 12.35 percent from 90.23 to 101.38, followed by the Livestock sub-sector by 0.32 percent from 100.28 to 100.60, the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.11 percent from 103.24 to 103.35 and the People's Plantation Sub-sector by 0.01 percent from 100.35 to 100.36. Meanwhile, the sub-sector that experienced a decline was the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.44 percent from 103.24 to 102.79.
  • Five provinces on the island of Java that calculated NTP in December 2021, all experienced an increase in NTP. The largest increase in NTP occurred in Central Java Province by 1.82 percent, followed by East Java by 1.33 percent, Banten by 1.08 percent, West Java by 1.02 percent and the Special Region of Yogyakarta by 0.73 percent.
