Abstract

  • Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • The East Java Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in February 2022 fell 0.59 percent from 102.33 to 101.72. The decrease in NTP was due to the price index received by farmers (It) decreased by 0.55 percent while the price index paid by farmers (Ib) increased by 0.05 percent.
  • In February 2022, two agricultural sub-sectors experienced a decrease in FTT while the other three sub-sectors experienced an increase. The sub-sector that experienced the largest decrease in FTT occurred in the Food Crops sub-sector by 1.37 percent from 104.54 to 103.11, followed by the Livestock sub-sector by 1.10 percent from 100.77 to 99.67. On the other hand, the sub-sector that experienced the largest increase in FTT was the Horticulture sub-sector by 3.89 percent from 96.27 to 100.01, followed by the Fisheries sub-sector by 1.13 percent from 102.72 to 103.89 and the People's Plantation sub-sector by 0.12 percent from 99.99 becomes 100.11.
  • Five provinces in Java that calculated NTP in February 2022, three provinces experienced a decrease in NTP while two provinces experienced an increase. The largest decrease in NTP occurred in East Java Province by 0.59 percent, followed by Central Java by 0.34 percent and Banten by 0.15 percent. Meanwhile, the largest increase in NTP occurred in the Province of the Special Region of Yogyakarta at 0.13 percent, followed by West Java at 0.02 percent.
